Rao’s Specialty Foods: The Way to an Italian Girl’s Heart

Being Italian is one thing I am very proud of. I love my heritage and I love the history, culture, and most especially FOOD, behind it. I’ve explored the Motherland only once in my life and am looking forward to the day that I get to go back… which is hopefully soon! ;o) (Laurel).

My family has a long standing tradition of passing down the recipe to our pasta sauce – or sugu (as the Sicilians say). I have made it and it is hands-down, the recipe Jason asks for the most and the reason I know that I could never be a vegetarian. It is THAT good. It’s my ultimate comfort food and I love the importance of it in my family. However, it does take a LONG time to make. There is a lot of love and labor that goes into it and considering that I love all Italian food, there are times where I need a fix without doing all the work.

I’ve tried a lot of different brands but Rao’s Homemade pasta sauce is the most delicious. I love it for pasta, for dipping garlic bread, sauce for a homemade pizza, or for making chicken or eggplant parmesean. It has real ingredients and the taste proves it. Genuinely, I only usually eat the sauce alone when it is my┬áhomemade family sauce but I fingmyself wiping my plate clean with a nice piece of garlic bread while eating Rao’s which is a sign that it will always be a staple in my pantry.

Their noodles are also phenomenal and made from real ingredients. The quality is undeniable and my favorite will always be any pasta like penne or with a tube like shape because the sauce gets in there and it just becomes a bite of flavor. Yum!

They also have a wonderful selection of oils. Oils are an essential to cooking any recipe. They can make or break the taste of the food so it is so important to add delicious, quality, well-made oils into our cooking routine. They will spruce up any salad, pasta or recipe with adding flavors and textures.

I used Rao’s extra virgin olive oil to boil the noodles in. Just add salt (make it like the Mediterranean is the key!) and your noodles come out with a non-sticky texture, the perfect consistency, and extra flavorful. I also love their oils to use to dip bread in. Olive oil, balsamic and parm- Boom! I could make a meal out of that right there!

I love a brand that can fulfill that rambunctious Italiana girl cravings and make it so that I don’t have to skimp on quality or flavor. Having foods like these in my house are more conducive to my life because they are easy to whip up and I know they will be delicious. Check Rao’s out and I promise you won’t be disappointed! ;o)
